It is a few moments from the two malls in Corte Madera, the Village and Town Center. A combination of Play base and Montessori. Give you children early language education in French.L’Ecole des Petits is a combination of Play Base and Montessori approach. In our home-setting preschool, children learn by: touching, watching, listening, manipulating, pretending, exploring and trying. Our educators focus on the care and education of every child. Our teachers believe in and understand how to teach to individual needs. They are encouraging and helpful, and mentor “children of our time” through rich experience and environment. They guide, inspire, motivate each child, but do not do for the children what children can do for themselves. They foster the development of problem solving skills while being positive role models. Unlike in a school like setting where children spend a lot of time responding to the adults’ expectations and demands , at L’Ecole des Petits the children initiate contact with as well as respond to adults and other children. Our students are more likely to be physically and socially engage as they express their opinions, choose activities, self-direct play, interact with each other, and ask for help. Our children are guaranteed teachers who respond to them in warm understanding ways. Many recent studies have shown that very young children exposed to foreign language are much more likely to become proficient in that language and to have native-like pronunciation. In addition to developing a life-long ability to communicate with more people, children may derive other benefits including improved overall school performance and superior problem-solving skills because of early foreign language learning. Language learners of any age typically understand a foreign language before being able to speak it.At L'Ecole Des Petits, children are learning French without even trying. After just a few classes, the children are able to understand much of what they hear in French with very little effort. Furthermore, they began to produce two–word utterances. Our goal is for the children to be able to form short phrases on their own by the end of the year. Weekly target vocabulary words will be introduced through music, rhymes, props, French books, art and group games. Emphasis will be placed on auditory comprehension and oral expression.L’Ecole des Petits is a program that focuses on the developmental needs of all children and structures its environment with respect to each child's particular learning style. The environment, inside and outside, is rich in the materials young children require in order to grow physically, intellectually and emotionally.Play is a child's work. Play is vital to children’s learning, it allows a child to express her/himself and to organize and make sense of the world.Play and art projects promote school success in many ways; play is the way young children learn. Through play, children develop many kinds of skills together- physical, social, emotional, thought processing, and language. Through pretend play and art projects, children learn to use their imagination to represent objects, people, and even ideas; they will also develop language and math skills by telling and understanding stories.
